London - New Car and Brighton

28/02/15

Big stamina day today.
Chris dashed off early in the morning to pick up the car and to tackle his first of three engineering train works closures for the day.
Did the dash between London apartments , Whitechapel to Regents Canal(Kings Cross area). The new sat navigator said 25minutes - we arrived 50minutes later(London roads and traffic).

'Old School Apartments', Whitechapel accommodation.

Pretty Shiny!!
Headed for another engineering works closure on our way out to Brighton. Excited to meet up with Scott and Marein, Annie and Lilian.
'Kings Cross, St Pancras' Station
Had a good ramble through "The Lanes"(pretty squashed but very cool) at Brighton - picked up a travel electric guitar and amp for Ollie. Had to bite my tongue not to comment on the 'affro' hairstyle sported by the guitar shop guy(pretty out there on a white guy) - obviously a new trend(seen some other cases in London) - Ollie held it back too(I was impressed).

Brighton looked amazing at night - beautifully preserved streets with fabulous looking eateries.
Did the compulsory Brighton Pier experience- the lure of the lights from further away was all too enticing for the boys - we had no option.
Luckily our dinner booking got us away from the Pier and enjoying a great dinner with great friends from way back(have known Scott since Architecture school days and Marein soon after). Any illusions of bumping into Jamie Oliver at "Jamie's Italian" were shattered when Scott told us there are 300 of these restaurants.

Brighton Pier

Scott and Chris, Brighton Pier - kids love it(big kids, maybe not so much?)

  1. Fantastic you got to meet up with Scott and Marein and their girls. They're such a lovely couple. If you see them again, say gidday!

I seem to remember Ollie had very tight curly hair when he was a little nipper. Perhaps if he were to grow his - it'd turn into an affro!

The car looks pretty cool. Hope it doesn't guzzle too much gas.

Can Ollie upload a vid of him playing his travel guitar. No heavy metal thanks. lol
